How long does shipping take?
Transit times vary by route. The UK and Ireland are the fastest at 14–22 days. Baltic ports like Gdynia take 28–35 days, Adriatic ports 26–36 days, and Black Sea ports 30–42 days. See our ports section for estimates by destination.
How much does it cost to ship a full container?
Most 20ft containers from the US East Coast to European ports range from $3,500 to $5,500. A 40ft container typically runs $5,000 to $7,500. The exact cost depends on your origin city, destination port, season, and whether you want door-to-door inland delivery. We send a custom quote within 24 hours.
How long can I keep the container to load it?
Standard free loading time is 3–5 days. If you need longer, let us know ahead of time and we can arrange extended loading (small daily fee may apply). We want you to load carefully — rushing leads to damage.
Do you offer door-to-door delivery in Europe?
Yes. We work with trusted inland trucking partners across Europe. A container landing at Gdynia can continue to Warsaw, Kraków, Prague, Bratislava, or Vilnius. A container landing at Felixstowe can deliver anywhere in the UK. Ask for a door-to-door quote and we'll include the inland leg in your pricing.
Who handles customs clearance at the destination?
The receiver (you, or someone you designate) handles import clearance locally at the destination. We handle all US-side customs and export paperwork — ISF, AES, bill of lading. We can recommend trusted customs brokers at each destination port if needed.
What can't I ship?
No firearms, ammunition, explosives, or hazardous materials. No live plants or fresh food (canned/packaged food is okay). No illegal substances. No cash, jewelry above a reasonable amount, or critical documents — keep those with you. Every destination country has its own import restrictions on items like alcohol, tobacco, and vehicles — we'll advise based on your destination.
Is cargo insurance included?
Standard cargo liability is included per international shipping convention. For full-value coverage (recommended for household moves), we offer all-risk cargo insurance as an add-on at approximately 1.5–2.5% of declared value. Your quote will break this out clearly.
Do I need to be home when the container arrives?
Yes — someone needs to be present for both delivery of the empty container and pickup of the loaded one. The driver needs a signature confirming container condition. Loading itself is up to you; many families use a few friends, hire local movers, or do it over a weekend.
What if my destination country isn't listed?
We ship to most European countries. If yours isn't on our main list, contact us — Germany, Denmark, Finland, Greece, Austria, Hungary, and North Macedonia are all routinely handled. We'll confirm availability and send a custom quote.
